Rules of Conduct
- The Club has a zero tolerance policy towards rudeness.
- Players should be seated five minutes before play is scheduled to start. The Director may exclude late arrivals from play.
- Unless a pair have seating rights a coin should be tossed at the table. The winning pair must sit North-South.
- The Director must be called as soon as attention is drawn to an irregularity.
- Slow play is selfish play and will be penalised.
System Cards
Club policy is that system cards should be carried for all events. They reduce the number of, and help to resolve, bidding disputes. System cards must be used in all Open events, in the Open Teams and in all divisional Pairs Championship events. Failure to do so may lead to procedural penalties being imposed.
Playing Up and Down
It is permitted to play with a member of a neighbouring division on any night provided that by 6pm on the night in question no partner has been found in one’s own division. If playing down handicaps will apply.
Members may not play up or down on Pairs Championship nights.
These rules do not apply to the Junior Division.
Master “C” Points Trophy
To qualify for this trophy players must have played six or more nights with a different partner during the year on their own night or in the Club Pairs Championship.
Correction of Gross Scoring Errors
The Computer Manager or the Chief Director must be advised of any such error within seven days of the results being posted, after which the time for correction will have expired. Members must not attempt to update computer files themselves.
Interdivisional Events
Players from all grades are invited to participate in interdivisional handicap events. Occasions include: Women’s Bridge, Friday Bridge, Saturday nights and Holiday Bridge. For all of these the average of the pair’s handicap will be added to the scores. Players winning “off the stick” are not eligible to win the event on handicap.
Reciprocal Playing Rights
The Otago and Taieri Clubs have agreed on reciprocal playing rights. Taieri members may play at Otago on Fridays, Charity nights and Holiday Bridge. Otago Players may play at Taieri on Saturday afternoons, Charity events and Holiday Bridge.
